Discover Queens South Waxhaw

If you’ve ever driven through Waxhaw craving a solid Southern breakfast or a no-nonsense lunch, Queens South Waxhaw is the kind of place that makes you slow down and actually park the car. Tucked at 1201 N Broome St, Waxhaw, NC 28173, United States, this diner-style restaurant feels like the heartbeat of the neighborhood. I’ve stopped in more than once-once for a quick coffee before a meeting and another time with family on a Sunday morning-and each visit had that same relaxed, local charm that’s hard to fake.

The menu leans into Southern comfort food without overcomplicating things. You’ll find fluffy buttermilk pancakes, crispy bacon, eggs cooked exactly how you ask, and golden hash browns that actually taste like potatoes-not freezer burn. For lunch, their burgers and daily specials draw a steady crowd. On my last visit, I ordered a classic cheeseburger with fries while my friend went for a country-style fried steak plate. The portions were generous, and more importantly, the flavors felt homemade. The gravy on the fried steak had that peppery depth you usually only get from a family recipe.

From a food quality standpoint, consistency matters. According to the USDA, maintaining safe food handling and temperature control is one of the top indicators of a well-run restaurant. Watching the open kitchen area during breakfast rush, I noticed staff rotating ingredients efficiently and keeping surfaces clean. It may seem like a small detail, but food safety practices are directly tied to customer trust. The CDC reports that millions of Americans experience foodborne illness each year, so seeing attentive staff and proper hygiene protocols goes a long way in building confidence.

Service is another highlight. The servers move quickly but still take time to chat. During one busy Saturday, I saw a waitress handle six tables at once without missing a refill. That kind of coordination doesn’t happen by accident. It reflects training, teamwork, and strong management. In hospitality research from organizations like the National Restaurant Association, customer loyalty is strongly linked to positive service interactions. You can taste good food anywhere, but you remember how you were treated.

Location plays a role too. Being right on N Broome Street makes it easy to swing by whether you’re heading to work or exploring Waxhaw’s historic district. Parking is straightforward, which locals appreciate. Unlike trendy downtown eateries that can feel crowded or overpriced, this spot keeps things accessible. Prices are fair, especially considering portion sizes. In a time when dining costs are rising nationwide, value matters more than ever.

What stands out most, though, is the sense of community. I’ve seen construction workers, retirees, young families, and small business owners all sharing the same dining room. On one visit, a group of regulars greeted the cook by name. That tells you something. Restaurants that survive and thrive in smaller towns usually do so because they build relationships, not just plates of food.

Online reviews echo this experience. Many diners mention the hearty breakfast platters, friendly staff, and reliable daily specials. Of course, like any busy diner, there can be short waits during peak hours. If you’re planning a weekend brunch, arriving early helps. That’s not a flaw-it’s a sign people keep coming back.

From my experience, the process behind a satisfying meal here is simple but effective: fresh ingredients, straightforward recipes, attentive service, and consistent execution. There’s no gimmick, no over-designed presentation, just solid cooking rooted in Southern tradition. Whether you’re scanning the menu for pancakes, burgers, or comfort food classics, you’ll likely leave full and already thinking about what you’ll order next time.

For anyone exploring restaurants in Waxhaw or searching for a dependable diner with welcoming vibes, this address on N Broome Street delivers exactly what it promises: hearty meals, honest service, and a place that feels like it belongs to the community.

  • We were less than impressed with the food here the staff were friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere was appealing enough, but I fear our meals could have been better. We did enjoy the appetizer of chips with blue cheese and honey! An interesting combination but it works! The kids mentioned that their burger came out wrong but said the fries were good. There were a few flies buzzing about during our meal which I attribute to being sat by the door. I understand that nothing is perfect but our experience was mediocre at best. None the less, we'd give this spot a try again. Perhaps a date night would bode for a better outcome.

  • Queens South is a cool little bar and grill with slices available on Thursdays and kids 12 and under eat free on Sundays. Pizza was pretty good and my wife really enjoyed the French Onion Soup. Pretzel appetizer was really good as well. If you are coming in to watch football, you really need to sit in the bar portion of the restaurant, as there is only 1 TV on the restaurant side.

  • The fried pickle spears and shaved ribeye sandwich we had were good. The atmosphere is very warm and inviting. Server was quick with refills. Lively atmosphere with football on the TV and the Christmas music on. Worth a visit!

  • NOTICE: Every year, Queens South has T-shirts made and all proceeds are donated to Tunnels to Towers!! I’ve included pictures of T-shirts from the last few years!! The Littles and I needed a place that was open late and had great reviews. Google sent us to Queens South, Waxhaw. There was a little bit of a wait, but it was definitely worth it! The atmosphere was fun and lively. The menu offered a wide variety of entrees. We all ordered something different and tasted a bite off each plate. The food was Amazing y’all!! Even though the place was packed, our server, Amanda, handled it all flawlessly! Queens South was opened a little over six years ago by Chuck and Donna. Donna was there, working just as hard as her employees. That alone says so much!

  • This was our second time in. First time for brunch. Really tasty! Kinda pricy but that’s just everywhere nowadays I think… The waitresses were sweet to my kiddo. The place was clean. I’ll be back again!

  • I went on Tuesday- which is buy one burger and drink, and get one free. I got one of their Tuesday night burger specials and lemonade. The burger was fantastic, as well as being quite large. It came with fries and they were quite good as well. We've been here several times and the food is always good. We arrived after the rush at around 7:45 and were immediately seated. I believe the service is quite adequate. They serve a full range of alcoholic drinks as well as soft drinks and lemonade. We'll definitely be going back.
